VSCO APP ui/ux Redesign

Project summary

what is vsco?

VSCO is a mobile app that started as a photography and image editing platform. It allows users to edit, share, and showcase their photos in a gallery-style feed. Many people use it as a creative space to display their photography with friends and others, often focusing more on aesthetic and visual expression rather than likes or comments.

history

VSCO was founded in 2011 by Joel Flory and Greg Lutze. It began as a small software startup with a goal to provide digital tools for photographers and creatives. The app quickly became popular for its clean, minimalist design and easy-to-use photo editing features. Originally designed for desktop use, VSCO eventually transitioned into a mobile app as smartphones became the primary tool for photography.

  • Mostly Millennials and Gen Z

  • Creative and visually-driven users

  • Passionate about photography and self-expression

  • Use the app for easy editing, filters, and a supportive creative community

Target Audience

The VSCO app needed addition personalization so users could further customize their content and profiles.

Problem statement

I plan to improve user satisfaction by adding a “Customize” section that allows users to personalize their gallery to better reflect their style and creativity. This feature will include options to adjust the background color, choose different font styles, and select various picture layout formats. Users will also be able to archive posts, pin important posts, resize images, and lock specific posts for better control and organization.

The solution

To have VSCO empower users to express themselves through visual storytelling by offering a wide range of filters and editing tools that enhance creativity for both amateur and professional photographers. In addition to its editing features, the app also functions as a social platform, allowing users to share their work and connect with others through their visual content.
